The name Calibrero is a confluence of ‘Calimero’ - a famous cartoon character – and the word ‘calibrate’. Calimero became famous for his quote: “It’s an injustice. They’re so big and I’m so little.” Many marketers can relate to this “injustice”. Sales, business development, and account management are seen to be the commercial departments that generate revenues. And, therefore, they get the full attention of and resources from the C-suite. Marketing, on the other hand, is – quite undeservedly - seen to be merely another cost center. As a result they are expected to ‘take orders’ from sales and are usually the first department to see its budget cut when business is down.

There is only one way for marketers to deal with this “injustice”: They need to calibrate their definitions of success.
